5/31/07.....

Things are a little slow here on the fishing scene for me. I have a ton of things to do on my house and not enough time for the boat. Fishing in the marshes is pretty good for Redfish and we caught a bunch last week. Problem is that all the pics came out blured with the new digital. Guess I still have some to learn about it. Spanish and Bonita were here a couple of weeks ago. Sharks and Cobia are showing up in the Inlets and the hook.

6/12/07.....

Went for a ride out of BI this morning and found the mother of all Bunker bait balls. Sharks had thousands or Bunker swimming in circles and were very receptive to a large white/olive deceiver on a 4/0 hook. I was changing flies when out of the corner of my eye I saw a large shadow about 3 feet below the surface. I grabbed my spin rod threw a 6" finesse on a 1/2 ounce jig head at the shadow. It turned and engulfed the jig and at the same time my St Croix rod exploded. After fighting the fish for over a 1/2hr with the butt of the rod only which was no easy task I was able to retrieve the rest of the broken rod. As I reached into the water to grab the broken section the hook puled out of the largest and only Cobia that I have ever hooked. I estimate the weight between 60-75 lbs. Score for the morning 4 sharks in the 4-5' range and one broken spin rod. "FANTASTIC"

6/17/07.....

Had a great afternoon on the water with Capt Joe Schutes. We were exploring some new waters north of Morehead City.

6/25/07.....

I am spending a week with my son Sean in Stuart FL. We have caught Albies, Baracuda, Jacks, Snook and King Mackerel. Tarpon which is the holy grail of fly fishing has continued to elude us for now. Every morning we have been crusing the beaches looking and finding large schools of Tarpon but have been unable to get them to eat yet. Still have 4 more days for that take...

7/8/07.....

Finally had a great day on the water with Albert Bruno of New Bern. We got in behing some draggers and when they culled their catch Sharks were everywhere. A great pull on 11wt.rods. This is the only one that I could pick up........

7/25/07.....

With the extra time that I have on my hands now a days I have been taking some neighborhood kids out fishing. Below is Christian Sweeney with a Hybred Striper that he caught on a 5wt in a stocked pond down here. The following day we went offshore and he landed a really small Dusky on the first cast with spin gear. Needless to say this was a close as he would get to it.

10/28/07.....

Well I am back from an unentfull summer. Too much to do around the house and not enough time to fish. My PC being down didn't help either.

ALBACORE from the turning basin in Morehead City to the Ancorage all the way to the Hook. We have never seen so many fish this early in the season before. If the weather holds we should have a repete of years past with awesome catches on Octobere and November. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
Call for open dates ..........

11/18/07.....

The Albacore that have been aluding anglers for the past month finall went off today. Catches of 30+ fish per boat were not uncommon. The action took place between the rock jetty and Pt Lookout on the morning tide. Numerous bait balls of Anchovies were being torn apart by maurading Albies to 14lbs+. This action should last as long as the weather is forgiving. Reports of 3/80" Bluefin were landed off Cape Lookout.

12/01/07.....

The Albacore fishing is about as it gets with catches of 20-30 fish on a tide. Fished Friday and Saturday with
Albert Bruno in not the best of conditions and had a stellar 2 days of fish.
